Working toward a musical environmental theme

The creation of the statues has been scheduled for the end of the month as more funds become available. You can Donate Today with the form on the right and help make this memorial possible.

I’m focusing on creating the right music for the piece and it will be challenging. I want to choose the right mood and musical character to represent the environment and foreign elements that surrounded these soldiers every day.

The sound and music should be in a 15 minute theatrical interlude that is dividing into segments of a regular deployment cycle: deployment, prepare for action, action, after action redeployment. The music will cycle with the photos to pull the viewer into the experience of the soldiers represented in the piece. During this time you can see with images with the iPod that the family is always on the soldiers mind during the deployment process.

  • I could write the music score using computer synthesizer software based on the traditional and modern Arabic musical interpretations or create a jam session of Middle Eastern musicians based on beats and tempo, to create a proper story for the piece.
  • I could just create a sound based on the traditional and modern Arabic musical interpretations.
  • I could take inspiration from other musical works and piece together an original track.

Below are modern examples of Arabic Youtube music videos.

Young Iraqi singer -Hussain al Ghazal has an almost hip hop style that I can feel it in the underlining beat.

Another Hussain al Ghazal – slower with images of the Iraq War

When I listen and watch modern Iraqi music videos it remind me of American hip-hop and Indian Bali styles using traditional Arabic instruments to better stylize it to their culture.
