Ten Basic Shortcut keys for Internet Explorer 9.0 (IE) & Firefox 5.0

Here is a list of ten basic quick keyboard shortcuts (hot keys) for Internet Explorer 9.0 and Mozilla Firefox 5.0 that’ll make your web surfing experience better and faster.
While browsing the web you want to go back to your set homepage (the page that your browser goes to when it first opens). Hit these hot keys and your there.
1. Go to your home page Alt+Home


Now you decide you want to go back to the previous page you were on before you went to your homepage or you accidentally pressed the wrong link.
2. Go to the previous page Alt+Left Arrow or Backspace


This next hot key is very useful, let’s say you’re looking up recipes on the internet and you’re looking for a specific recipe in this long never ending list. This is the quickest way to find it, press the hot keys and type the words you are looking for and press the find button.
3. Find on this page. Ctrl+F or F3


Now that you’ve found the recipe you want to open a new page so you can compare it side by side with other recipes.
4. Open a new window Ctrl+N


These next sets of hot keys are very useful when you need to adjust the zoom to see the page or words better. Remember + is zoom in, – is zoom out and 0 is return to default zoom.
5. Increase zoom (+ 10%) Ctrl+Plus Sign


6. Decrease zoom (- 10%) Ctrl+Minus Sign


7. Zoom to 100% Ctrl+0


Copying and pasting can be a chore as we all know. Having a quick and simple way to do this is definitely makes this chore easier. When you use the copy shortcut remember you must highlight (select) everything you want to copy. When you paste you can also choose how it paste for example: It keeps the formatting from the source or you can paste with none of the formatting.
8. Copy the selected items to the Clipboard (A temporary storage area where text or other data cut or copied from a file is kept until it is pasted into another file) Ctrl+C


9. Insert the contents of the Clipboard at the selected location Ctrl+V


This one works well if you’re doing research for a paper and need all the information off the whole page. After selecting all items, copy and paste the information, so you can determine what information is useful.
10. Select all items on the current webpage Ctrl+A
