Here’s a list of ten basic quick keyboard shortcuts (hotkeys) for windows 7.These shortcuts help can help you navigate and manage your desktop, as well managing open programs.
When cleaning up your desktop and sending items to the recycle bin this hotkey makes the process faster just select the icon you want to recycle then use these shorcuts.
Delete (or Ctrl+D) Delete the selected item and move it to the Recycle Bin.

This is an easy way to search your computer if you’re looking for a specific file or folder from the desktop.
F3-Windows logo key +F Search for a file or folder

This next hotkey is useful for closing the active documents in programs that allow you to have multiple documents open. Example: You’re in Microsoft word and you have three documents open, pressing the hotkeys closes the active document (the one you are in).
Ctrl+F4 Closes the active document (in programs that allow you to have multiple documents open simultaneously)

This hotkey is similar to the one above the only difference is it closes the entire program, including all windows that may be open within the program. Example: You have Internet Explorer open with three tabs. Pressing Alt+F4 closes all the tabs and main window
Alt+F4 Close the active item, or exit the active program

The next hotkey helps with the visibility of the icons on your desktop by changing the size of the icons.
Ctrl+Mouse scroll wheel Change the size of icons on the desktop

This next hotkeys is really cool you can cycle through your programs on the taskbar using Aero Flip 3-D
Windows logo key +Tab

This hotkey makes switching users or locking out the computer much quicker than having to go through the start menu options.
Windows logo key +L

Sometimes when you click a link it opens a new window but the window isn’t maximized. Using this hotkey maximizes your windows without having to use the mouse.
Windows logo key +Up Arrow Maximize the window.

This next one is really handy and works on the desktop or in any window that allows the magnifying glass function. This is useful when the text is difficult to read.
Windows logo key + Plus Sign Zoom in (+)
Minus Sign zoom out (-)
ESC to close

The last hotkey allows you to view the desktop while on any other page, this may come in handy if you frequently save items to the desktop and just want a quick view of it without closing the active window.
Windows logo key +D Display the desktop.
